Admissions into TTRP are competitive. Places are limited to a maximum of sixteen each year.



Admission Criteria
Students in the Theatre Training & Research Programme must:

  1. be above 18 years of age
  2. have an "A" Level certificate, or equivalent cultural literacy
    Note: Graduates from junior colleges, polytechnics and universities, as well as current theatre practitioners are all welcome to apply.
  3. be proficient in English
  4. demonstrate artistic talent and ability, maturity and commitment, at audition(s), interview(s) and by a written assessment.
  5. Pass (score 50% or higher in) a Grammar, Vocabulary and Comprehension test of English as a foreign language, administered at the time of the audition.

Selection Process
Selection is made through initial interview, written assessment and auditions.
Upon the School’s receipt of the application, each applicant will be notified in writing of rejection, or of arrangements for interviews, written assessments and auditions.

Audition Dates
Auditions for Singapore citizens and permanent residents will be held in March 2006 (subject to change if necessary); two weeks after the application deadline. Auditions for international students will be held throughout the year following application deadlines. Auditions will be held in Singapore, unless it is proved to be impossible for the applicant to journey to Singapore for them.

Students are welcome to make initial contact by telephone, letter or email.  Thereafter, applications can only be made via duly completed forms accompanied by the application fee of S$31.50 (includes 5% Goods & Services Tax ).  Application forms may be obtained from this website (here), or by contacting the School directly via phone, fax or email.

Application deadline for School Year commencing July 2005

   
   
  • Applications by Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents must be received by 1 March 2006
  • Applicants from China should apply by 1 October 2005, as visas for students of these countries would take at least six months to process
  • Applications by all others must be received by 15 November 2005

Fees
A Registration Fee is to be paid upon the students' acceptance into TTRP. Registration fee: Singapore Dollars $210.00 (including 5% GST)
School fee: Singapore Dollars $16,000 per year (including 5% GST)
 
Financial Aid
The National Arts Council (Singapore), LEE Foundation (Singapore) and the Hokkien Huay Kuan (Singapore) have provided provide financial assistance for Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents. International students should consider seeking financial assistance from their home countries.

Students of the TTRP have received support from the Hong Kong Theatre Association, the Cultural Institute of Macau, the National Culture & Arts Foundation of Taiwan, the Philippines National Commission for Culture and the Arts, the Ministry of Culture of Poland, the Taipei Business Association in Singapore, and generous individuals in Hong Kong, the Philippines and Singapore.

Students may contact the TTRP for advice on bursaries and scholarships, and for supporting documents for applications.
