Contemporary & Classical
The TTRP is an intensive multicultural and multilingual Contemporary Theatre programme. For the first two years, students will work intensively on Foundation Training of all subjects including two Acting Approaches, Movement, Voice & Speech, Improvisation and Taiji. These will contribute to shaping and conditioning the actor's body as an instrument. Students will also be assigned Individual Projects every semester where they take on the roles of performer-author, writer, director, and performer in their own creations. They will also be immersed in four Asian Classical Theatre systems (Beijing or Kun Opera from China, Bharata Natyam or Kathakali from India, Noh Theatre from Japan and Wayangwong or Balinese Dance from Indonesia) as well as the European theatre tradition.

Japan Foundation Asia Center has supported the Asian Classical Theatre Systems training, Asian Cultural Council has supported the participation of various artist teachers, Saison Foundation and Han Language Centre have supported lecture series, and All Nippon Airways has provided assistance for Noh training.

The Curriculum includes skills and technique training, project-based creative learning, field research, academic exposure to the humanities, arts, theory and critical studies, as well as foundational multimedia training.
Students will also be introduced to the diverse practices of World Contemporary Theatre including those of the source countries of the Asian Classical Systems. Another vital component will be Contemporary Theatre Practices in Singapore and South-East Asia.

Asian Classical Theatre Systems Training
Students will be substantially immersed in four Asian Classical Theatre Systems. The four will include Beijing or Kun Opera from China, Noh Theatre from Japan, WayangWong or Balinese dance from Indonesia, Bharata Natyam or Kudiyattam or Kathakali from India, or Cambodian developments of classical Indian forms. Each of these Asian components will last three to five months, with master teachers from the source countries leading the training.

Related Theatre and Multimedia Studies
Students will be exposed to a wide range of related studies such as the fundamentals of Technical Theatre as well as Digital Arts and New Media.

Humanities & Life Studies
Students will be required to engage actively in fieldwork and real-life research projects. They will also be kept in close contact with the reality of theatre making in Singapore. In addition, they will be introduced to associated studies such as those relating to society, culture, science, technology and environment.
