International students are advised to arrive in Singapore 3-5 days before the school term begins, at which time an orientation programme for them will be conducted. The orientation programme will introduce most aspects of the TTRP, as well as life and living in Singapore. It is also during this week prior to the beginning of the new School Year that international students will be able to collect all necessary official documents, and make arrangements for bank accounts, medical checks etc.

Student Visas, Passes and Immigration Matters
International students must obtain all necessary visas and passes from their own countries for their departure, and from the Singapore immigration authorities for their entry into and stay in Singapore, before they can even come to Singapore to begin the programme. It normally takes 3 to 6 months to obtain a Student Visa from the Singapore immigration authorities from the date the application is submitted. Requirements for supporting documents, deposits etc vary for students of different nationalities. We will assist by supplying the application forms, any available guidelines, advice, appropriate letters of support, and some administrative assistance.

Housing and Accommodation
The TTRP will provide, upon request, advice and administrative assistance to any student to help secure housing for the duration of the course.
On a broad average, rental for single rooms in public housing flats (Housing Development Board flats that house more than half of Singapore’s population) ranges from S$400 to S$600 per month. Rental of entire flats (minimum 2 bedrooms) can start from S$800.

Living Expenses
Transportation - Fares on public transportation costs between S$0.80 and S$1.70 for one-way single journey bus-rides and between S$0.80 and S$1.80 for one-way single journey MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) train rides. Taxi fares start from S$2.40. Taxis ply 24-hours, while night buses are available on certain routes. The MRT, however, only runs from 5.15am to midnight.
Food - Cheap, affordable local food is available in abundance 24 hours a day all around the island. Food at hawker centres and food courts costs from S$3.00 for a one-dish meal based on rice or noodles. More expensive local and foreign fare is available from cafes and restaurants. Singapore offers food from all corners of the globe.
