Upcoming Workshops & Lectures - JULY 2007

TTRP MASTERS SERIES 2007:

WORKSHOP FOR ACTORS: IMAGEWORK TRAINING & CHEKHOV TECHNIQUE

by David Zinder

Date and Time:

Part 1 - 14 July (Saturday), 9am - 1pm

Part 2 - 15 July (Sunday), 9am - 1pm

Venue: TTRP, Emily Hill - 11 Upper Wilkie Road

Fee: S$180/-

Creativity in the theatre involves the external expression in physical form of the actor's imagination. At the same time it is based on fundamental techniques relating to the actor's instruments of expression: the body and the voice in space. In order to turn all of these into art radiated out to the audience, technique is required – and that is the starting point of the workshop. Both ImageWork and the Michael Chekhov Technique are based on the understanding that there exists a profound symbiosis in the performance space between the body and the imagination.

Participants will be required to prepare for the 2nd session, on the Michael Chekhov Technique, by reading a classical play, choosing one of the characters and learning a brief monologue (a minute to a minute and a half). As long as it is a well-known play (e.g. the Greeks, Shakespeare, Racine, Corneille, Ibsen, Chekhov, Strindberg, Tennessee Williams, Arthur Miller, Harold Pinter) this can be done in each actor’s own language, if translations exist.

To apply for a place, download the registration form to submit a brief bio, and list injuries/disabilities. TTRP and the instructor reserves the right to select final list of workshop participants based on the consideration of optimizing the learning opportunity for all participants.

Completed registration form to be sent to Amanda at email: amanda@practice.org.sg or fax to 6337-4204

Closing date: 22 June 2007
